Habs fans let their team know how much they loved it last night but couldn’t lift them to a win in home opener as the Rangers won 3-1.

thanks Karine, good blog as usual.

"The injuries didn’t help, but the over abundance of AHLers for a long time didn’t help either. This team should have learnt to play together during training camp, not in the season’s first week."

100% agreed. I get that because of the pandemic the organization didn't get the chance to evaluate as much where the kids were at in their progression, which would explain why there were so many players invited at camp, but still, developing cohesion among the guys on the regular lineup should be a priority as well. and to think some teams only played 4 pre-season games, how propesterous...

really eh? was not aware of this. it does sound like there are layers upon layers of things to consider... sabres fans are probably hoping this gets resolved as soon as possible, I know if this happened in MTL it would be a complete circus.

edit: speaking of sabres fans, I noticed the stands were pretty empty for the home opener, holy. lol

yeah we want it done 4 months ago. Also, yeah, the entire organization needs to earn their respect back. There's no one to watch and the owners are an embarrassment. Ralph Krueger's Sabres may have disassociated thousands of fans. Adams' clear plan was to build with the young guys here and all the veterans are low end, short term guys. With vaccinations required, no high end talent other than maybe Dahlin, Canadians can't come to the games, and what Ralph did, and by extension the Pegula's, this is why you see 8000 fans. If the players keep earning fans in the stands by playing hard and fast (see Kyle Okposo's letter), then I think you'll see a steady rise in attendance this year. I don't think 15k is out of the question especially if we start letting Canadians over the border again.

I'm at that point Pat. How bad could it be? I already eat Richard shaped foods.

You can dissect Bergevin's trades all you want but bottom line is, every single year for ten straight years his plan has been, hopefully make the playoffs and hopefully Price goes on a miracle run. His plan stinks

What happened last year might not happen again for 25-30 years. when it does happen more often than not the little train that could blow its load just getting to the finals and loses to a much superior team. His plan stinks

Hard (teehee) to chow down with a mask on.

But at the press conference, he will lead by example and go to town on Shrek Dube. TVA Nouvelles will then say "it's only mandatory now? We've been eating Legault's for the last 20 months!"

yes, but actually thinking about it while you're eating those foods is a whole different story.

anyway I know it might be unsatisfying to see it that way but considering the number of teams and the league parity I find Bergevin has done a good job. a lot of things need to go right in order to build a contending team that remains competitive year after year, and often it's just out of your control. one of the biggest issues though to me would be the drafting, if Timmins gets to stay even when Bergevin leaves I'll seriously start wondering what the (frank) he's doing to be keeping his job for so damn long.

I wasn't a big fan of the Destiny's Child playing before that but yeah that Rage song was nice. I'm just glad they didn't use any Coldplay songs lol

lots of anti-vaxxers in Buffalo, huh?

anyhow I know the habs played like total poop that night but the sabres looked like a determined hard-working team, even if the contrast with Montreal struggling to show a decent effort helps a lot in highlighting this lol

For sure. Have a buddy that went to a Coldplay concert. Almost stopped hanging out with him, but he's usually the 4th in our golf foursome.

Never a gimme for that guy though.

never understood the use of "Fix You" before every habs game at home, if anything it does the complete opposite of pumping you up for the game, all-around a horrible choice imho.

I just imagine a bunch of suits in a boardroom making these choices.

Who is doing the fixing? What are they fixing? Why must it be fixed? Is it subliminal veterinarian advertising?

Same at Scotiabank though. If they think they're making my dreams come true with a bunch of early playoff exits, they must be tapping into my wife's pillow at night by mistake!

some would argue the whole organization as well as the fans' broken bipolar hearts need a bit of fixing lol...

and I think they still play Cotton Eye Joe at the canadian tire center during senators games, the people in Ottawa sure know their timeless classics.
